Meeting with Tabuenca & Leache at Casabella Formazione

The sometimes tricky relationship in architecture between space, light, geometries and surfaces was the subject of discussion and close examination at Casabella Formazione

3 October 2017

The new season of in-depth meetings on architecture, organised by Casabella Formazione in association with the Mondadori Group and ProViaggArchitettura, began with the event on 11 September 2017 at Casabella Laboratorio.

Marazzi, partner in this first training session, kicked off a series of cultural initiatives that will also see the company involved also in the next Milano Design Film Festival as sponsor of a short film.

One of the guests at the Casabella Formazione meeting was Spanish studio “Tabuenca & Leache” in the person of Jesùs Leache who described his professional experience to a packed audience of students, architects, engineers, self-employed professionals and architecture enthusiasts. The meeting was opened by Andrea Cuoghi, sales director of Italia Marazzi, who outlined the company’s main milestones: from its origins dating back to 1935, the year it was founded in Sassuolo in an area that would become a pioneering international hub for the creation of fine ceramic tiles, to important collaborations with the most famous designers of the moment, together with whom the company was able to grow and experiment, and through to the successes and projects of recent times.

The meeting revolved around the experiences and accounts of architects Fabio Capanni and Jesùs Laeche, exploring the controversial relationship between space and light in architecture. Through the illustration of some of the studio’s most representative projects, Leache sought to explain how light can become a crucial architectural element that is able to design the space through the use of light and shade effects.
