Quality and Environment


Quality at Marazzi means quality of product, process and environmental sustainability, priorities that have enabled the firm to certify its systems and products.
For Marazzi, loving ceramics has always meant respecting the environment, in the sense of the human and natural landscape.

As a consequence, Marazzi has become a standard-bearer for eco-sustainable industry and helped to make ceramic tile production a closed-cycle process. Throughout the entire process, Marazzi has developed a system for the collection and reuse of reject output, process wastewater and the raw materials it contains, and the heat generated in a number of phases. Environmental quality criteria are applied to the entire manufacturing cycle, limiting consumption of natural resources and environmental impact, through the restoration of quarries’ landscape and vegetation, controlled waste management, the optimisation of energy consumption and the recycling of industrial wastewater.

The safety of the staff who work in the plants is another absolute priority: Marazzi performs constant checks on occupational health and safety levels, making any technical and organisational changes required and allowing workers to attend educational and training courses to guarantee compliance with the set safety and environmental standards.

In 1994, Marazzi Group was one of the first companies in the industry to obtain ISO 9001 certification which guarantees the quality of the products and services supplied, while its environmental management system has been ISO 14001 certified since 2003.




European Union environmental quality mark, obtained by Marazzi in 2004, awarded to products which meet and comply with environmental standards, such as the rational use of energy resources and natural resources, low atmospheric and wastewater emissions, waste management and more effective consumer information.


Marazzi products are manufactured with a recycled material content certified by the Certiquality institute and contribute to the achievement of LEED certification credits.


Marazzi Group has assessed its products' environmental impact throughout their life cycle, from extraction and processing of the raw materials through to the recycling of demolition spoil.


Marazzi is registered with Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Ceramics Industrialists’ Association) as qualified under the GPP (Good Phytosanitary Practices) programme for the control and shipment of ceramic tiles destined for the USA.

NF Standards

Mark of the finished product’s conformity to NF Standards, combining the product’s technical characteristics with its intended use. The four letters indicate:
U: resistance to traffic wear;
P: mechanical resistance to the movement of fixed and moving objects
E: behaviour in the presence of water;
C: resistance to common chemical agents.

CE Marking

Marazzi Group S.r.l has fulfilled all CE Marking requirements for its products. Relevant commercial documentation is available for distributors, professionals and users on the website www.marazzi.it

CCC Certification

CCC certification, introduced in 2002, is applicable to all products imported into and manufactured in china for sale on the Chinese market. The information specified by CCC certification generally concerns health and safety and, regarding ceramic tiles in particular, specifically refers only to tiles in porcelain stoneware with absorption equal to or lower than 0.5%. The certification is issued by bodies specially accredited by the Chinese authorities, which are all based in China.

ISO 9001

In 1994, Marazzi Group was one of the first companies in the industry to obtain ISO 9001 certification which guarantees the quality of the products and services supplied, starting from product design and development through all manufacturing phases.

ISO 14001

During 2004, the Marazzi Group obtained ISO 14001 international certification which sets the prerequisites for the implementation, development and maintenance of an environmental management system, undertaking to control the environmental impacts of its production process with a view to continual improvement.
