Baveno, Italy
An oasis of relaxation overlooking Lake Maggiore: the design of a small holiday home is inspired by views of the Borromean Islands, playing with the reflections of the water and the warmth of the Piedmontese shores.
The gentle panorama of Lake Maggiore and the warm, enveloping hues typical of the Borromean Islands inspired the design of a contemporary holiday home in Baveno, a few metres above lake level. The colours and surfaces chosen to create the interior spaces dialogue with the nature outside, playing with the grey, light blue and mid blue of the water and details in wood, rust and beige that match the shades of the hills.
In the design, great emphasis was placed on natural light to create a welcoming, bright space: in the living area, porcelain stoneware inspired by the veining of natural stone in a refined sand colour from the Grande Stone Look Limestone Sand collection was used to expand the volumes and create a spacious environment. The choice of a large size was particularly effective in creating a sense of space, as well as of continuity not only between the different rooms in the house but also between indoors and outdoors. Sofas in terracotta-coloured fabrics and wooden furniture elegantly blend into the space, creating a balanced, refined and relaxing atmosphere.
The bathroom area veers instead towards the colours and lights of the lake: the walls feature brick tiles with deliberately irregular surfaces with a glossy finish from the Crogiolo Rice collection, evoking the movement and veining of the lake’s surface, creating a relaxed and ethereal atmosphere, perfect for an escape from daily routine. The soft lighting, achieved through neon with a minimalist design, emphasises the reflections on the tiles, accentuating the sense of tranquillity.
The added touch? The Venetian Terrazzo-inspired stoneware floor Grande Marble Look Ghiara Minuta Mix, with its irregular texture, lends character and personality to the space, recalling the timeless elegance of historic palaces.
