Vigo, Spain
Light-filled interiors and spatial continuity in a detached home renovated in pale colours.
The project, designed and undertaken by the Liqe arquitectura firm, set out to recover and complete an unfinished building dating from 1978 in Vigo, Spain. This detached house was a typical product of the period’s construction boom and shared many of the clichés common to buildings of the time.
The new family home revolves around the shared public spaces, with the main living area opening onto the garden with its large cherry tree, the leading feature in the home’s link to the outdoors. This linkage is also formally expressed through slats of chestnut wood that create a “gateway” extending into the outdoor paved area.
Mystone Limestone porcelain stoneware tiles in Ivory colour and 120x120 cm size were chosen for all the floors because their large size, combined with a slightly opaque shine and a pale yet understated colour, provided the extra touch of radiance and spatial continuity required for the project.
This collection’s distinctive feature is its minimal, natural patterning, with subtle inclusions that give it a refined, contemporary look. It provided aesthetic continuity throughout all the rooms in the home, creating a tasteful, inviting interior.
