Villa FL

Set amidst the greenery of one of the capital’s most exclusive districts, Villa FL embodies a refined synthesis of contemporary architecture, residential comfort and bespoke attention to detail. Conceived by DFG Architetti Associati, the villa extends over two levels and is distinguished by a compositional balance in which pure volumes and glazed surfaces forge a continual dialogue with the surrounding landscape. The spatial configuration arises from meticulous design research, blending the lightness of transparency with the material presence of surfaces, creating an architecture that is both rigorous and inviting.

The façade and external spaces possess a distinctive identity through the use of Mystone Travertino Classico, a choice that evokes the Roman architectural tradition, reinterpreted in a contemporary vein. This material envelops both the vertical surfaces and the outdoor flooring, creating visual continuity and reinforcing the dialogue with the surrounding context.

Within, the design centres on a spacious open-plan living area, conceived as a fluid and permeable environment where light assumes prominence. Expansive glazed panels dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior, drawing the landscape inside and enhancing the sense of space. For the ground floor surfaces, the selection of Grande Concrete Look Mud porcelain stoneware slabs introduces a refined and contemporary language, accentuating the formal clarity of the interiors. The large slabs minimise grout lines and contribute to the creation of uninterrupted surfaces, while the Sand tone employed in the bedrooms introduces a warmer and more welcoming atmosphere to the sleeping areas, maintaining stylistic coherence with the remainder of the house.

The bathroom is transformed into a dramatic and sophisticated space through the Statuario marble effect, used both on the floor and as wall cladding. The elegant veining on a pale background enhances the brightness and highlights the interior architecture, creating continuous surfaces that engage with the design elements, such as the arch framing the washbasin area.

As the designers themselves underline, ‘the volumetric articulation of the building is the result of a meticulous compositional study, where geometric purity is combined with the lightness of glazed surfaces and the measured use of materials.’
