Mohawk Industries, global leader in the flooring sector with a presence in around 180 countries, has published its 16th Sustainability Report. The Group exceeded its target for reducing Scope 1, 2, and biogenic emissions and recorded a 117% increase in renewable energy consumption, with a 53% growth in solar energy production. At the same time, global water withdrawal intensity improved thanks to the reuse and elimination of large volumes of wastewater in production processes, particularly in ceramic activities worldwide.
These results have helped consolidate the Group’s position, which has been recognized as a Climate Leader America and Eco Leader.
Along this path, Marazzi Group, part of Mohawk Industries and an international leader in the design and production of ceramic and porcelain stoneware tiles, has strengthened its contribution with initiatives aimed at people and the improvement of processes and products.
- People at the center
In 2024, Marazzi Group delivered 12,641 hours of training, up 26.5% from the previous year, with 60% dedicated to safety. The company also launched People-Ness, an innovative training program for the entire company, involving over 200 employees on topics related to physical and mental wellbeing, valuing diversity, and improving relationships. These initiatives led to obtaining the Top Employers certification for the ninth consecutive year and Best Employers for the third time.
- Product innovation
Marazzi Group’s commitment to sustainable innovation has resulted in the development of collections featuring a high percentage of recycled material and production processes with a reduced environmental impact.
International recognition has also been received along this journey: the Slow and Realstone Travertino collections received the Archiproducts Sustainable Award for their alignment with the principles of sustainable design, significant recycled material content, and the use of environmentally friendly production techniques.
- Commitment to the environment
On the environmental front, Marazzi Group recovered 107,190 MWh of heat through its three cogeneration plants and avoided the emission of 31,704 tons of CO2 by purchasing 71,858 MWh of renewable energy with a Guarantee of Origin. Finally, 100% of imported electricity comes from renewable sources.
Mauro Vandini, Global Ceramic President of Mohawk Industries and CEO of Marazzi Group, stated: “We continue to strive for continuous improvement and responsible innovation. Our focus is on achieving concrete results that benefit people, the environment, and business, ensuring that sustainability efforts become increasingly effective and long-lasting.”
