Montegrotto Terme, Italy

The Green Lodges at Montegrotto Terme were designed to blend discreetly into the natural setting of the Terme Euganee hot spring area. With one eye on sustainability and the other on wellbeing.

The Terme Euganee area, to the south of the city of Padua, is famous for the health-giving effects of its spring waters and the beauty and tranquillity of its landscapes. The new Terme Preistoriche resort, consisting of 7 exclusive lodges designed by Studio Apostoli of Verona, is a new addition to this context, a place dedicated to wellness and bodily care since ancient times, and aims to deliver an experience in complete harmony with nature, based on innovative solutions that reduce environmental impact to zero.

While on the outside the Green Lodges blend perfectly into their natural setting, on the inside each of them is a little design gem, with a distinctive colour scheme created with different Marazzi collections. Great attention was paid during the design phase to integrating the indoors and outdoors to enable guests to establish a strong connection with nature

There was a particular focus on the spa zone, where the floors and parts of the walls were covered with the Mystone Limestone Sand collection, a porcelain stoneware in warm, natural shades that generates a mood of relaxation and comfort, perfectly attuned to the lodges’ natural surroundings. The combination of different sizes in the porcelain stoneware tiles’ installation layout creates a dynamic, contemporary pattern.

The lodges’ bathrooms were designed to be particularly light-filled and characterful, using two different coverings with a vibrant effect and great expressive power chosen from the Crogiolo series of small-size tiles, which interprets the skills and knowledge of traditional craftsmen for contemporary taste. The shower area was covered with Crogiolo Zellige, small brick tiles with a handmade effect inspired by the North African tradition. This collection’s distinctive feature is its graduated shades, which generate a striking blend effect when installed at random. The washbasin zone in each room was finished with different colours of Crogiolo Lume, small brick tiles in 6x24 cm size with a contemporary appeal and an extra-glossy finish, which add vibrancy to the design scheme with variations in colour and patterning with a flawed, time-worn look.
